Tales from the Mek

Thinker of thoughts, sometimes writer of fic. These days this tumblr is primarily a time sink for Teen Wolf and Pacific Rim with special guest star Inception. My OTP is Derek Hale/Happiness. Also I have strong feels about #moredanny and Toph Bei Fong \o/

My Tumblr Fics  AO3  Teen Wolf Shadowsverse  Shadowsverse Wolrd Building   Ask me anything
Welcome to Cartography is Fun!  (or)  Mek kinda sorta does fanart

This map is part of a much bigger project that I’m working on (if you guessed shadowsverse, you would be correct…) but I’m stupidly pleased with how well it turned out that I’ve decided to put this out there now.  :)  If you want a higher res version let me know.  Tumblr tends to munch resolution so I only exported it at 72 ppi.
Fun facts:
The cartography funseis was all done using available GIS data sets and TileMill.  Then I made things pretty in Adobe Illustrator
According to the Teen Wolf Wikia the zip for Beacon Hills is 95921, which is an unincorporated blip on the map called Inskip.  I put Beacon Hills at 39.992396, -121.551026 because of the creek and a nearby forest preserve that has a lake
The Roble* River sort of exists and is semi based off of Inskip Creek
I brutalized several actual counties to create Beacon County
so many thanks to notsodarling- for putting up with me sending her 80 gajillion versions of this and just being an awesome enabler and sounding board. <3

If you want to use this for something just let me know so I can reblog ya. :D

*hint: the name of the river is a bit of an Easter egg.  ;)
